Christopher Eccleston
Christopher Eccleston is an English actor. A two-time BAFTA Award nominee, he is best known for his television and film work, which includes his role as the ninth incarnation of the Doctor in the BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who, playing Matt Jamison in The Leftovers, and his collaborations with filmmakers Danny Boyle and Michael Winterbottom.He made his stage debut in ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ at the age of 25. Christopher’s role in the UK television series ‘Cracker’ boosted his career, and enhanced his image in his home country.
The BBC serial ‘Our Friends in the North’, and some of his significant films like ‘Let Him Have It’, ‘Shallow Grave’, ‘Jude’, and ‘Elizabeth’, further heightened his popularity. He has also appeared in several other high-profile films and television series. He was nominated twice in the Best Actor category at the BAFTA Television Awards and has also won the Best Actor award at the 1997 Broadcasting Press Guild Awards. More recently, he garnered critical acclaim for his portrayal as the grandfather of a young boy with autism, in ‘The A Word’.
