Matt Smith
Matthew Robert Smith is a British actor most renowned for portraying Eleventh Doctor in the popular British science-fiction TV series ‘Doctor Who’. Smith, a gifted football player who once aspired to become a pro footballer, was compelled to think otherwise due to a back injury. He joined ‘National Youth Theatre’ and completed his graduation from ‘University of East Anglia’ studying drama and creative writing.
His acting debut happened on-stage in London theatres in plays like ‘On the Shore of the Wide World’ and ‘Murder in the Cathedral’. Moving forward, he worked in many other plays including ‘That Face’ where his brilliant performance earned him critical acclaim. He made his television debut with the film ‘The Ruby in the Smoke’ and went on to feature in many other TV productions. However, the one role that brought him to spotlight garnering immense fame and popularity as also a BAFTA Award nomination was that of Eleventh Doctor’ in TV series ‘Doctor Who’.
