Sidney Poitier | Beverly Hills | $4.5 million

Sidney Poitier is a skilled person on many levels. He is an actor, a film director, and was the ambassador of Bahamas to Japan from 1997 to 2007. It goes to show that the actor not only knows how to act but also navigate the waters of diplomatic and international relations. He is also the oldest and earliest surviving awardee of the Oscars. As a Bahamian, Sidney has a home in the beautiful country. Most of his relatives also live there.

His home in Los Angeles, though, is what we would want to feature here. The former ambassador and his wife, Joanna, lived in this house for over 19 years before they decided to sell it for $4.5 million. The Italian-inspired house sat on an expansive lot measuring 1.1 acres and initially cost $7 million. There’s no doubt that the property has a reliable home security system for its owners’ privacy. While it appears they took a loss, they happily transferred to a co-op in a building in New York City, living a simpler and happier life.
